Burning River is proud to partner with Commonwealth Lacrosse. Because of this sponsorship participants in our local (leagues, camps, clinics) and national (travel team) events receive exclusive access to promotions, deals and lacrosse equipment.

    About Commonwealth Lacrosse

During the 1990's, lacrosse was just starting to blossom throughout Massachusetts.  To many people, it was still an unknown sport - but to another growing group, it was their passion.  That’s how we knew it was going to stick -- it was not a fad, a phase or even a hobby, it was a true passion for so many children and their parents.  So it was up to Commonwealth Lacrosse to create the pipeline for the passion that lacrosse players have. So they gave them what they needed - a store with the best gear and apparel for the best sport on earth.

Commonwealth Lacrosse was founded in 1997 in Weymouth, Massachusetts.  It was built with hard work, dedication and the desire to create the premiere lacrosse company in the world. It has been – and continues to be - an amazing journey.  They have seen the sport of lacrosse explode across the United States faster than they could have ever imagined!  As the look forward, there is no indication that this ride is going to slow down.  So to be a part of this explosion is something special and something that everyone at Comlax are grateful to play a major part in.

Their growth has continued year after year, with seven stores in Massachusetts, two stores in New Hampshire and their two most recent locations, in Fairfield, New Jersey and Norwalk, Connecticut.  The lacrosse world is ever-changing and they have historically stayed ahead of those changes and will continue to do so moving forward.  They have a thriving web business and continually stay in touch with customers through Facebook, Twitter, SMS text messaging and so much more.

They are proud of what we have built with some of the most talented and dedicated employees a company could have.  They carry ALL the best lacrosse equipment at the best prices - STX, Brine, Warrior, Maverik, DeBeer, Gait, Cascade and so much more! So if you’re in the area and you need a new spoon, stop by one of their 11 stores or if it’s 2:00 am and you need a pair of the flyest lacrosse shorts, visit us on line 24/7  - they are there for all of your lacrosse needs!

We are proud to partner with Under Armour as the new supplier of Burning River apparel. Under Armour is one of the leading athletic apparel companies and their mission is simple, “To Make All Athletes Better Through Passion, Design And The Relentless Pursuit Of Innovation.”.

    About Under Armour

It started with a simple plan to make a superior T-shirt. A shirt that provided compression and wicked perspiration off your skin rather than absorb it. A shirt that worked with your body to regulate temperature and enhance performance.

Founded in 1996 by former University of Maryland football player Kevin Plank, Under Armour is the originator of performance apparel - gear engineered to keep athletes cool, dry and light throughout the course of a game, practice or workout. The technology behind Under Armour's diverse product assortment for men, women and youth is complex, but the program for reaping the benefits is simple: wear HeatGear® when it's hot, ColdGear® when it's cold, and AllSeasonGear® between the extremes.

Over the years, Dick’s has grown to what it is now, with over 300 stores selling the finest quality products at competitive prices, backed by the best service anywhere. They strive to meet their goal of being the #1 sports and fitness specialty retailer for all athletes and outdoor enthusiasts through the relentless improvement of everything they do.

We are proud to partner with The Goalie School as our exclusive instructional camp for goalie training.

    About The Goalie School

The Goalie School was found in 1990 (over 20 years) by Coach Bill Pilat (Roanoke college) as a way to provide goalie specific training rather than just having goalies shot on at summer camps.  The camp has grown from 1 location with 55 goalies at its start to 4 locations (Virginia, New York, Florida and Ohio), 6 sessions and over 600 goalies per year.

Quite simply the goalie school is, "the best goalie camp in all of lacrosse". This camp is filled before any other goalie camp in the country and the reason is it's the best! Extensive Video tapping, talks from All American Goalies, and attention to detail separate this camp from the rest! Coach Pilat and his carefully selected staff offer 5 day programs of intense instruction and drills to improve performance of the goaltender. This Camp gives campers a chance to work individually with Coach Pilat and his staff for five intense days.

For more information on The Goalie School please see the 'Goalie School' tab under the 'Camps' link above.

We are proud to partner with The Fisher House Foundation to host our annual Fisher House Charity Lacrosse Showcase.

The 4th annual ‘Showcase’, was held at Walton Stadium at Hawken School on Saturday April 23, 2011, and featured three High School Varsity lacrosse games (Medina (2010 Ohio State Semifinalist) vs Wooster at 12 PM, Seneca Valley (2010 Pennsylvania State State semifinalist) vs University School (2010 Ohio State Finalist) at 2:30 PM, Green vs Hawken School at 5:00 PM, a Junior Varsity game Seneca Valley vs University School at 2:30 PM and a Middle School game University School vs Hawken School at 12:30 PM.  In the past, we have also had College games (We are currently negotiating for them this year.)

Teams are paired up on the field to show their talents, have some fun and learn what it's like to give back to their community. Players are given the opportunity to show their appreciation to our military families and participate in an event to benefit others. The success of this event is made possible by local and national sponsorships, many parent and coaching volunteers and of course the main attraction the players.

In the past four years the event has had the following results:

    • Raised over $178,000 (sponsorships, donations, ticket sales, auction, raffle, t-shirts, programs) for America's military families so that they can be with their severely wounded and/or ill family member(s) during those service members’ medical treatment and/or lengthy physical and/or occupational therapy treatments.
      • This is the second largest one day event (Marine Corp marathon) Fisher House is associated with.
    • Sold over 7,500 tickets
    • Received coverage in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Inside Lacrosse magazine, Chagrin Valley Times, regional Observer papers and Cleveland.com.
    • Received coverage on Cleveland TV (WKYC TV3 - interview on good Company), Cleveland Radio stations (WGAR, WDOK, Q104, 90.3 (Morning Edition) and WTAM) and Columbus Radio stations.
    • Had special guest, former Army lacrosse player John Uberti, speak with the participants about how lacrosse impacted and shaped his life, how the participants can use what they learn on the lacrosse field to become men of substance and impact, and what the Fisher House Foundation and events like the Fisher House Charity Showcase mean to our military families.
    • Had special guest Major Zoltan Krompecher - Green Beret, who served two combat tours; one in Iraq with a Special Operations Unit and one with Operation Enduring Freedom, speak with the participants about how Fisher House has been there for his men/women, the positive impact it has had on his troops and the impact events like this has on our military families.
    • Had special guest Justin Kalenits – speak about his experiences with Fisher House. He is medically retired from the 173rd Airborne and his rank was Specialist.  He was shot in an ambush in November 2007 in Afghanistan.  He was on a foot patrol with 12 of his buddies when they were ambushed by 180 Taliban fighters.  Six of his friends died and 6 were wounded. They fought for hours and it took several hours to get medivaced.  He was the most critical.  He had surgery in field and was placed on a respirator.  Within two days he was flown to Landstuhl (Germany).  His parents were then flown, using Fisher House ‘Hero miles’, to Landstuhl to be by his bedside.  While in Germany they stayed at a Fisher House.  Justin told participants about Fisher House and what they did for his family and those of his wounded buddies.
    • Had special guest Lt Col Patrick Powers, a highly decorated member of the Special Forces speak about what Fisher House means to the men / women in his command.  Lt Col Powers also took part in a ceremonial face-off prior to each of the games last year.
