What Is The 2012 3rd to 8th Grade Fundamental Skills Camp Mission
Our camps are focused on the goal of improving the camper's fundamental skills and understanding of team concepts. Our camps are not team camps but skills camps where the vast majority of time is spent teaching techniques and fundamentals in individual or small group sessions.
2012 3rd to 8th Grade Fundamental Skills Camp - June 18 to 20, 2012
Every year we hear from unhappy parents who have spent $400, $500 or more to send their son to a "name" camp (sponsored by a well known player or one that states that he will be there) that barely taught him the fundamentals he needs to improve his game. The name player either did not coach (just showed for a speech) or only showed the kids high level tricks. The parent then realizes that their fees only went to pad someones pocket rather than inprove their sons game.
Instead of having that happen to you send him to the Burning River Lacrosse Summer Day Camp. Our camps are focused on the goal of improving the camper’s fundamental skills and understanding of team concepts. They are not team camps but skills camps where the vast majority of time is spent teaching techniques and fundamentals in individual or small group sessions. To that end the camp will include instruction on individual (Stick Skills), positional (Attack, Midfield, Defense and Goaltending), and team (Transition and Set Piece Offense and Defense) play. Campers will receive instruction from some of the area’s best coaches and players in a low camper to instructor ratio. Last year's coach / camper ratio was 6 to 1.

Weather Policy
We play in all weather except lightening. Lightening will delay things 30 minutes but we will still try to get the camp in if the lightening was earlier in the morning. A passing storm at 7 AM does not cancel the camp. If it is raining who cares this is not baseball we play. If they get muddy so be it. Kids love mud (at least my kids do) and the washing machine cleans up their clothes. Some of you will ask at what point will you call it for rain? I will put it this way, unless you see animals lining up two by two and a man building an arc we will play.
Should a session get cancelled due to lightening we will do the best we can to work with the facilities manager to schedule a make up date. However, please understand that that may not always be possible. We do not refund a percentage of the registration fee if weather cancel a session.
