2013 College Showcase To Benefit The Stefanie Spielman Fund For Breast Cancer Research
Burning River Lacrosse is teaming up with Renegade Brands (Sweat X Detergent) to bring you our 4th Annual Breast Cancer Research Fund Raiser (see all sponsors) to benefit the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. View Pre Event Press Release
This fund supports laboratory discoveries that are being translated into effective treatments and new drugs for breast cancer patients, as well as other research. Since 1999 the fund has raised more than $8.5 million. In the last 4 years (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013) the event has raised approximately $49,000 for Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.

You can still purchase tickets at the event at the ticket booth. They can be paid for with either Cash or Check.

2013 - Tiffany Bauman Cantelupe
We are thrilled to announce that Tiffany Baumann Cantelupe has agreed to speak at our October 13, 2013 Spielman Breast Cancer Fundraiser. Ms Cantelupe has traveled the world working as a model, actress, and singer. She was born in Medina and is a former Miss Ohio.
In July, 2012, Tiffany felt a lump that was unfamiliar. After 2 weeks of debating, she saw her doctor. Tests revealed she had an aggressive, fast-moving type of cancer that spread to her lymph nodes.
She was 35 years old at the time of her diagnosis and had 2 young children. Tiffany received treatment including a year-long chemotherapy treatment program and surgery.
Despite her busy schedule, Tiffany has agreed to speak at our event to share her story and lend her support to our fundraising efforts.
2012 & 2011
Had guest speaker Mrs. Ellen Perez. Mrs. Perez, a mother of a BR player, is a triple negative breast cancer survivor diagnosed at age 37. For those not familiar with those terms it is a particularly lethal form of breast cancer that typically strikes young patients. They call triple negative the triple threat due to the fact that they really can't figure it out yet. We were honored to have her share her story with the event participants - 2011 Speech

You can make a tax deductible monetary donation (even a few pennies help) to help us reach our goal of raising $12,500 to help those struggling with breast cancer and their families during their time of need. The Stefanie Spielman Fund is recognized by the IRS as a valid 501(c) (3) organization. Click on the link to donate
Once on the page, enter in the amount you would like to donate and then click “Complete Your Gift.” On the next page you can confirm that the amount you would like to donate is correct and select the option “This Gift is in Honor of Someone.” Please fill out the top line, making the donation in honor of Burning River, so that we have an idea of how much we were able to raise.

Do you have a family member, friend, or neighbor that knows a local celebrity (sports, news, political, etc) that you could speak to about helping with the event? It could be anything from raffle items, to website/twitter support, to an appearance at the event.
You can put the event information on your Facebook, MySpace or LinkedIn account pages. You can send the event information to family, friends, neighbors. Do you/someone you know belong to an Alumni association that you could forward the information to? Do you/someone you know belong to a local group that might be willing to send the information to its members (Kiwanis, Optimist Club, etc.)
Do you have a family member, friend, neighbor, coworker with contacts at local media outlets? If so would you be willing to contact them about doing a story on the event?
You can donate your time. We need people to help with the following: ticket takers, concessions workers, parking, t-shirt/short sales, field preparation, ball boys/girls, etc.
Our goal is to sell 1,000 tickets. Please come see one or all of the games.
