Girls Travel Team Overview

Since inception our travel teams have consistently finished at the top of the tournaments we competed in.
Overall, our Boys teams have won 75 Nat'l Tournament Championships (74 Field / 1 Box) & been a Finalist 30x.

We now look to use our expertise in coaching, logistics and recruiting to replicate that success on the Girls side of the game

Saturday, August 4, 2024 'Evaluation Day' For Summer of 2025 Travel Teams.

Our travel teams were founded in 2007 to showcase Northern Ohio lacrosse players who are highly skilled but also of high character. Unlike other travel teams that only accept coaches' recommendations, we hold tryouts so that every player with an interest can showcase his talent and make a case for making the team.  As a result, our players are not primarily from 1 or 2 teams but are from numerous programs.  In fact, our 2024 travel teams had players from over 50 Northern Ohio schools.

Note: Players never get a spot just because they attended one of our Travel Team 'Evaluation Days' (e.g. only 2 goalies attend the summer 'Evaluation Day' so both make the team).  Instead, players have to earn a spot by playing at the level needed, given the tournaments we attend.  Therefore, we hold 'Evaluation Days' to find players year round.  We have had players selected as late as May in some years.  In addition, every year we have players we did not make the team in August, who make the team at a later 'Evaluation Day' after they have worked to fix their weaknesses.

Teams (By Grad Year)

• High School Teams: 2026 Grad Yr, 2027 Grad Yr and 2028 Grad Yr - 11th, 10th and 9th grade in Fall 2024.
• MS: 2029 Grad Yr, 2030 Grad Yr - 8th and 7th in Fall 2024.
• Youth: 2031 Grad Yr and 2032 Grad Yr - 6th and 5th grade in Fall 2024.

Where: Broadview Heights Rec Center - located at 9543 Broadview Road, Broadview Heights, Ohio 44147

Cost: $35

Time:

• High School: 9:00 am / 11:00 am.
  

• 7th or 8th grade: 11:00 am / 1:00 pm

• 5th or 6th grade: 1:00 pm / 3:00 pm.

How: Evaluation Day Format - Our Evaluation Day will consist of two parts:

• • Part 1 (35-60 minutes) - players will be evaluated through a series of basic drills that evaluate stickwork, fundamentals, dodging & defending.  These drills include shooting, 1 v 1 dodging, unsettled situations & small side scrimmages.
    • The evaluators will meet, compare notes and select two teams of players at each grade level. Players not selected for the scrimmages are allowed to leave the tryouts at this point.
  • Part 2 (35-60 minutes) - The players select for the two teams will scrimmage to give the evaluators additional opportunities to determine which players will be selected.
    • The evaluators will then meet to review their notes, review scrimmage film and select players to receive an invitation to play for Burning River Lacrosse during the 2023 /2024 season (Sept 1, 23 to July 30, 24).

Notification Of Results:

• All players, regardless of their results, will be notified on or before Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

Team Selection Day Times:

• High School: 9:00 am / 11:00 am.
  

• 7th or 8th grade: 11:00 am / 1:00 pm

• 5th or 6th grade: 1:00 pm / 3:00 pm.
