2019 Can Am

2020 Can Am Tournament / Showcase - 2021, 22, 23 & 24 players

The Can-Am Invitational is a 2 part event held at the Detroit Country Day School on November 7th and 8th 2020.  You do NOT have to attend Saturday to play with BR on Sunday.

Individual Showcase - Run by NXT not a BR team event - Not a required event
On a Saturday November 7th, 2020 there is an individual showcase that players register for individually. Players interested in playing on Saturday need to register online and them email coach Calleri for a recommendation. You can not participate without the recommendation.

 

Team Showcase - BR Team Event
On Sunday November 8th, 2020 the event features a team tournament with elite competition from both the United States and Canada, particularly the lacrosse hotbed of Southern Ontario. All teams will play three games in front of the assembled coaches, which included 15+ Division I schools and 70+ coaches overall in 2018.

Administration & Logistics

    • Fields: grass and field turf, so bring cleats and your preference for turf shoes or cleats
    • The Can-Am Invitational features elite competition from both the United States and Canada, particularly the lacrosse hotbed of Southern Ontario. All teams will play three games in front of the assembled coaches, which included 15+ Division I schools and 70+ coaches overall in 2019. This event is open to any and all participants in the corresponding graduation years.The Invitational is the team event connected to the Can-Am Showcase. The Sunday portion will host elite freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior teams from both countries. By invitation, 30 of the top club teams from the Midwest and Canada battle it out.

Team Tournament Information

Rules

  • Each team plays 3 games.
  • Games will be officiated under High School Rules.
  • Four 11 minute quarters. 2 minutes between quarters.  Halftime is 3 minutes. (Time to be kept by officials on the field)
  • Face-offs after each goal and the beginning of each half.
  • Penalties will be one minute for technical fouls and two minutes for personal fouls.
  • Penalty time begins on the restart of play after penalty is called & player is in the penalty box.
  • The officials will keep all penalty time.
  • Any fighting or flagrant disrespect toward an official or any other person will result in expulsion for the remainder of the tournament. No Exceptions, No Refunds.
  • No Zone Defense
  • Timeout per game - not in last 4 minutes of game.

Check In / Check Out

  • All Players – Should meet the coaches at the field of their first game 45 minutes prior to the start.

 

Lodging

  • There will be no team travel arrangements for this tournament.
  • All players are staying with their parents.
  • We ask that you treat the hotel staff with every courtesy so that they will welcome us back next year
  • We ask that parents have their sons in bed early enough that they will get at least 8 hours of sleep before the games on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Please remember that your son being tired impacts everyone on the team (line mates, etc.), not just him.

 

Transportation

  • There will be no team travel arrangements for this tournament.
  • Detroit is only 3.0 hours from Cleveland and we are only playing on Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Therefore, players are responsible for their own transportation to and from the tournaments.

Any player needing a ride should contact Coach Calleri immediately.  He will help arrange carpools.  Any player/parent willing to help out with carpooling should also contact coach Calleri so that he will know where we have room in cars.  Thank you for your understanding with this matter.

Tournament Meals

  • You Must Bring Money For Food As It Is Not Included

 

What To Bring

  • For the field: all equipment including but not limited to helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, sticks, cleats, turf shoes etc.
  • Water Bottles. Water will be provided on every field, but not water bottles.
  • Money: not too much, but enough for your meals.
